In 2021 Legal Aid of North Carolina and the Durham Eviction Diversion Program, with support from the Duke Civil Justice Clinic, will host a speaker series with prominent and acclaimed authors on housing and the law. To launch this series, Richard Rothstein will present research drawn from his book The Color of Law (2017). Richard Rothstein is a research associate of the Economic Policy Institute and a Fellow at the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. He lives in California, where he is a Fellow of the Haas Institute at the University of California–Berkeley. In addition to Rothstein’s talk on the history of racial inequality and residential segregation, there will be a discussion of how you can support equality and justice here in North Carolina.
While this event is free and open to all, we ask that those who are able make a suggested donation toward their attendance. Monies raised from this event and series will be used to keep our clients housed.
